Baz graduated from the University of Birmingham with a first class honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science (1999), followed by an MSc in Health and Exercise Science at Bristol University. The psychology behind behaviour change interests Baz greatly and she loves being able to work out the most effective way of motivating clients to achieve their goals.
After University rowing distracted Baz for 6 years, she became disillusioned by the office and rowing took over more and more. After a 9 month stint in Australia training with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, Baz trialled for the GB rowing team in 2004 and made it into the training squad. She went on to represent the GB rowing senior team winning medals at World Cup and Championship level, reaching her peak in 2007 with a bonze medal at the World Championships in the women’s 8.
Having spent 6 years devoted to becoming the best athlete she could, Baz decided to start Point2 Fitness with Carla Ashford, which aims to get the best out of others through highly effective personal training. Clients benefit from the combined efforts of Baz and Carla designing programmes together and using their experiences as athletes and trainers.
Carla graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a Human Biology BSc (Hons) degree, a Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) degree and a ridiculous passion for rowing. Following university Carla worked as a research physiotherapist, involved with a randomised controlled trial investigating rehabilitation care following back operations. This is an area which Carla has spent a great deal of time on and she has an excellent knowledge of back care and an understanding of chronic lower back pain.
Throughout her time at university Carla’s passion for rowing grew and grew, having started at a novice level she quickly worked through the ranks gaining national championship medals, a Henley Royal medal and competing at the world university championships representing GB. Carla realised that her greatest ambition of competing at the Olympics could become a reality. She became a member of the senior GB rowing squad in 2005 and trained as a full time athlete for an Olympic cycle resulting in numerous world cup medals and a world championship bronze medal in 2007. Carla reached her ambition of becoming an Olympian in 2008 where she came 5th in the women’s 8 final in Beijing.
Post Beijing Carla took on the challenge of creating Point2 Fitness with Baz Moffat, a personal training company dedicated to taking an honest and professional approach to physical activity. Carla is elite in her approach to personal training as she was with her rowing, her knowledge of the body and its functionality together with her world class attitude, creates a personal trainer that will leave no stone unturned to help the client reach their goals.
