I was recommended to see Sarah at Health and Fitness Solutions from a physiotherapist in my home town of Auckland, New Zealand.I was in a lot of pain due to re-occurring issues with my rib and spinal joints and had been unable to play tennis for the previous five weeks. As well as my pain I had extremely limited flexibility through my upper spine which required a lot of work and treatment. I had four weeks to get pain free in time to play in Wimbledon and was receiving treatment on my rib, shoulder and back three to four times a week from Sarah.
I couldn’t have been more impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and commitment I received, which ultimately got me pain free in time to
compete and improved my flexibility and range of movement immensely - something very key given the nature of my sport.
Having spent four weeks working with Sarah at HFS and seeing the results first hand I can highly recommend her to any other person or athlete.
I first found out about Health and Fitness Solutions (HFS) through an organisation called TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme). I was suffering from lower back pain throughout my previous season when my physio highlighted the fact that the pain caused to my back maybe because of the engineering of my feet. As I am involved with TASS, they recommended Wayne Edwards as a Podiatrist who could help me with my on going problem. I had a consultation/fitting with him, he was very professional, helpful, knowledgeable, plus, I learned a lot about my feet and why I was getting back pains. I now have my specially made insoles which double up as I can play with them and use them casually in my normal shoes, which is a bonus, and more importantly I now have no back pain at all. I would highly recommend Wayne Edwards at HFS to any other person or professional athlete.

I grew up in the rough area of Peckham, South London and started Taekwondo when I was 11 years old. A leaflet was handed out at my school and I begged my mum to take me to the class so I could be just like my idols, Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali.
Taekwondo has kept me on the straight and narrow, away from negativity which could have easily sent me down a very different path. It has also equipped me with valuable life skills and values which have shaped me into the athlete and individual I am today. For 6 years up to November 2009 I was based in Loughborough then Manchester training full time with the National Taekwondo Academy. Since leaving the Academy I have moved back to London and continued with my own training program and competing regularly. I have opened up my own club “Positive Impact” which is aimed at the local problematic community, so hopefully I can have a “positive Impact” on their lives like my first club and instructors had on my life.
Competing in Athens Olympics (2004) was an amazing experience that left me even more focused and intent on my ultimate dream which is to be an Olympic medallist. Due to injury I had to miss out on Beijing 2008 but now I am fully fit, fully determined with one goal …….. London 2012
Dear Greg and Wayne,
Just wanted to say that I have done my half marathon for Royal Parks yesterday and finished in an amazing time 01:57:18 and place 4095 out of 12,500 participants.
I would have never been able to even contemplate to take part if it weren’t for your help - the physio sessions with Greg and the insoles and my new super Brookes trainers recommended by Wayne.
So just wanted to say Thank You for all your help and send you a few pictures from the race.
I am now considering the London Marathon in 2012!
All the best

Dear Gordon and Wayne
This letter is a testimonial to the excellent care and treatment given to me by HFS for the long standing foot (corn) problem which has afflicted me for over 20 years and continued until it was finally resolved when I started to visit HFS clinic two years ago.
Under the care of Mr. Wayne Edwards, he would treat the afflicted toe every six weeks to allow me to have some temporary relief. It was at the end of April 2010 when Mr. Edwards advised me of a new surgical procedure which could resolve my problem for years to come.
I was introduced to Mr. Gordon Jarvie who examined my foot, explained the procedure thoroughly and agreed that I was an appropriate candidate.
The laser surgery was done by Mr. Jarvie done at the Clinic at 11 Crosswall; it was painless, quick and Mr. Jarvie explained everything that he was doing as the procedure.
I can’t thank Mr. Edwards and Mr. Jarvie enough for not only recommending the procedure but for providing the most excellent after care treatment.
I would urge anyone who has the chronic affliction caused by corns to speak to Mr. Edwards and Mr. Jarvie without any hesitation. I am very happy to speak to someone considering the surgery if they would like to do so.
Thank you both again for the excellent care.
Kind regards,
Susan Savage
As a result of a sporting injury, I was a patient of Mr Ryan for a period of some 12 months. During this period I received exemplary treatment and advice which has led to a full recovery and my active return to contact sports.
Over my sporting career it has been my misfortune to require physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatment as a result of injuries and associated operations on a number of occasions. As a result I have experienced treatment in both the public and private sectors.
It is my belief that the treatment I received from HFS was of the highest standard and well in excess of anything I have previously received. Due to the quality of the treatment I received I have referred friends, sporting associates and work colleagues to HFS. To date I am pleased to confirm that all of the persons who sought treatment have expressed their complete satisfaction. To conclude, HFS provides a thoroughly professional service.
“I have now been treated at HFS Aldgate for the past 8 months regarding my back problem. I was in constant discomfort/pain even doing everyday activities such as sitting and moving from the sitting to the standing position. I had reached the point of thinking that there was nothing anyone could do to help me, especially considering the ineffective treatment I had received prior to being seen at HFS.”
(GT then highlights 6 years of treatment post the initial back injury including various specialist reports to the point GT started rehabilitation at HFS.)
“Although the above treatments had not been cheap, the unbearable situation of still being in almost constant discomfort/pain despite the treatment made the cost seem irrelevant. Having read the reports of the above ‘specialists’, it would have been easy for HFS to be influenced by their opinions. They did, however, disregard them with reassuring confidence and carefully explained their diagnosis and plan of rehabilitation.
Since the first treatment [with HFS] and with steady improvement, my back not only gives me no pain on a day to day basis but I have returned to a full running and weights training schedule and have also returned to playing competitive rugby. These are activities that I had given up as being outside the realms of possibility only 8 months ago. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending anyone with a back problem to see HFS and indeed have done so on many occasions to date.”
“This letter is a testimonial to the care and treatment given to me by HFS for the long standing back problem which started at the age of 25 and lasted, intermittently, for 2 years until it was finally resolved as I started to visit HFS.
My back pain started for apparently no reason and was stopping me from playing active sports and fully enjoying my recreational time as well as causing problems at work. I had an MRI scan that showed a bulging disc in the base of my spine but the consultant who saw me said that all he would be able to do was to operate which I was very much against. I had various treatments from an osteopath and other physiotherapists but never felt like I was getting anywhere. In-fact, I found I was becoming more dependent on them for manipulation to get some temporary relief.
HFS approached my back with a totally different attitude and were the first people who actually gave me a diagnosis that I understood. They showed me that I was in control of the problem by learning how to support my back and pelvis using muscles that I was not working properly. This gave me an ideal posture which I was able to then control at work and even whilst doing sports again. They continued to supervise an exercise programme for me and, as well as completely curing the pain I now feel that I am stronger and fitter than I was before the problem even started.”
My introduction to HFS was through my GP who referred me to them with a chronic back injury that I sustained whilst filming a documentary. I had received initial physio which temporarily eased the pain but did nothing to tackle the cause.
By the end of my first appointment HFS had given me a clear understanding of my current condition and their confidence, clarity and commitment reassured me that not only was I in very capable hands but that I was in the right place to get back to working order. Considering that at this point I was in continuous pain, I was unable to sit, lift or carry and my work entails extremes of all these things a full recovery was crucial.
During my treatment I felt that, unlike other physiotherapists I have experienced in the past, those at HFS were totally committed to curing the cause rather than just a quick fix and their interpretation of the symptoms has resulted in a complete recovery. They were patient, efficient and effective and always made time in their diary of appointments.
In the past my experience has been that you wait ages for an appointment and once there you feel as though you are on a conveyor belt with a small allotment of time. I have since referred friends to them as I believe they are exceptionally talented and that their ability and personalities make a real difference.
The adverse affects of playing rugby and a severe car crash had left my neck in bad shape and indeed caused years of neck pain as well as a constant headache.I had tried various sources of remedy but without achieving any real relief. It was only after I was recommended to approach HFS that I was really made aware of the real importance of skeletal physiotherapy and how posture and the corrective measures necessary to improve posture could make such a profound difference.I can safely say that after HFS’s administrations and the knowledge and awareness which has been imparted to me and which I have put to use myself, the improvement has been beyond anything I had thought could be possible. Learning about and understanding what a problem is and then being enabled to deal with it, is what was achieved with me and I now know what it is to be pain free again .My only regret is not to have discovered HFS years ago .
