Examination of the wrist and hand is complex because of the need to assess so many joints. One collection of tests is called the 10 point Kaltenborn test and provides a framework for assessing just the joints of the carpus.
A number of issues in the hand originate from the wrist, forearm or even as far away as the shoulder and neck. All must be assessed as there may well be more than one underlying issues leading to the final symptoms.
